This 3000 square-foot terrace on the Upper West Side has views of the Hudson and ample space for entertaining. The client does so frequently, so the goal was to design a terrace to provide numerous and different areas to entertain.

We utilized the space to create a variety of outdoor "rooms" with an intimate feel, including a dining pergola that can accommodate up to twelve people and a shade-sail covered bar and grill area, among others. 

We incorporated IPE decking, porcelain pavers, and a raised platform to create these "rooms" while still maintaining a very open and flowing garden feeling.

In addition to the other plants, we included a vegetable garden and an edible garden that's planted with various herbs and fruits, so fresh ingredients are readily available.

The clients have since found that they spend as much time outdoors as they do inside most of the year.
